An old sprawling tree with crusty bark, deeply embedded roots, twists, turns, and intertwining branches, despite its noticeable scars, symbolizes a deeply purposeful life to me.
The resilient survivor continues to thrive regardless of its battered appearance. It appears to have been a standing witness in a war zone. Its roots are deep. They are tapped into a flowing subterranean river, unnoticeable to the casual observer. This nourishment is the source of life for the tree, allowing it to burst with vigor in the spring and weather the packs of snowy ice in the seemingly prolonged mid-winter.
This acrylic painting was inspired by two locations, and especially the evident tenacity of the old tree. This framed original measures 20.5" x 35" and features a vintage wooden and gold leaf-style frame. Tax is included in the price. Free Shipping.
Parable of the Sprawling Tree [SOLD]
I paint with high-quality archival Liquitex acrylics on canvas. I use a limited palette consisting of a warm and cool hue of each of the primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) and Titanium White. There are endless variations of color that can be mixed when using these pure pigments. Paintings on this site come framed. Some have antique frames, and some are vintage style. There is an occasional vintage hardwood finished frame, which can be viewed clearly in the photo.
Each painting is an original one-of-a-kind creation from Penny Saville Fregeau of Nehemiah's Art Gallery and Studio.
Paintings are shipped from Nehemiah's Art in Fortuna, Northern California.
